Girl's Night Out & A Contest

I didn't realise what a challenge this contest would turn out to be, and I'd like to thank all those who good-naturedly participated! In the end, determining the six nationalities was more of a team effort than anything else! So, for the sake of fairness, I pulled a name out of the hat at random.

And the winner is...Welshcakes Limoncello!

Answer: Ukranian, Bulgarian, Moldovan, American, Italian, Russian

One evening, not too long ago, one of my best friends decided to organise an evening in which she brought together all of her international girlfriends. We went out to the Creperia, a lovely restaurant in the historic center of a little seafront town down the coast a ways. We shared good food and lively conversation and I got to thinking about how fascinating it was that none of us came from the same country. Six different women, from six different nations, chatting away in Italian, and having a wonderful time together.

So, I thought I would create a contest in which, you, my gentle reader, have to guess which countries we are each from. And I even have a prize for the winner! The first person to accurately guess where each woman in this photo hails from will win a copy of Apulia - A Film Tourism Guide, a fantastic guidebook to this region, made even more fantastic because it was translated into English by little old me!

Good luck!

p.s. anyone who is actually in the photo is not allowed to participate, for obvious reasons!

Lovely pic and you all look like you're having a great time. This contest is hard! Ok, left to right:
Greek, Italian, Russian, American, Mexican, Danish.

Ok, I can see the contest is nearly impossible! Let me give you another hint...
From left to right:
X, X, X, American, Italian, Russian.
So, the first three women on the left still need to be identified. And another hint, they are all from Eastern Europe, but they are not from any of the countries mentioned in any of the previous comments...
I will award the book to whoever guesses the countries, even if you can't guess which woman is from which country!

The second woman looks Bulgarian to me

Historelli said...

The other two are Ukrainian and Hungarian

Saretta said...

Historelli, very good on the Bulgarian! Did you just guess or do you remember seeing her on my Molfetta blog? Also, yes, the woman on the left is Ukranian, but the last one is not Hungarian...

So, we have:
Ukrainian, Bulgarian, X, American, Italian, Russian

Any guesses on the last mystery nationality?

Historelli said...

Honestly, the Bulgarian woman just looks like a Bulgarian (similar squarish face) i use to know and the same with the Ukrainian....

As for the last woman... she looks Polish to me (fair skin, round face.. my wife is polish so i should be an expert on this :-) , but i believe that nationality was already guessed and deemed incorrect.

So i'm going to stay geographically close and guess Lithuanian!!!!

Patsy said...

Hungerian or Romanian

Saretta said...

Not Lithuanian, not Hungarian, not Romanian!

Last big hint...her country's language is Romanian...and it shares a border with Romania...

Historelli said...

She Moldovan!

C'mon... that's nearly impossible to guess!!

Patsy said...

Ho my goodness I need to go back look at geographi. I say Czechoslovakia Ukranian

Saretta said...

Yeah, Historelli!!! She is Moldovan! I know, it was too difficult wasn't it?

Now I don't know who to award the prize to...figuring out all the nationalities was sort of a team effort in the end!

Historelli said...

I'm guessing that mailing the prize to the states is probably very costly so i will bow out of the award ceremony...

only on the condition that you continually keep up with all the historical tidbits about Molfetta, especially with photos from the old part of the city!

What a surprise! I'm delighted. Thank you, Saretta. Can't wait to receive the book! xx
