Rome - Luxury Fashion

There's a street in Rome called Via Condotti where every shop sells luxury fashion goods.

It starts in Piazza di Spagna and is only three blocks long.

But in the space of three blocks you can find the most important international luxury fashion brands in shops one next to the other.

Kind of like an all-luxury fashion mall.

Hmm, where should I stop...Bulgari or Cartier? Decisions, decisions!

Would you wait in a line that wraps around the block for the chance to buy something Louis Vuitton on sale?

I love clothes and fashion and these clothes are unquestionably lovely and of excellent quality.

In one store window the prices were displayed for menswear.

A suit cost €3,000, a polo shirt was €650 and a leather belt cost €800.

Personally, I have a hard time justifying spending enormous sums of money on fashion...

...when there are so many people in the world who have nothing.

They sure are pretty, though.

But the truth of the matter is...I can't afford any of this stuff!

I wonder if I would buy designer labels if I could afford them?

Would you?

If I could afford designer labels I would only buy handbags and shoes that were designer; everything else (i.e. clothes) I would buy at standard retailers. :)

I agree the clothes are beautiful, but I couldn't part with the cash. I would feel too guilty about all the other things I could do with the money. Like make several mortgage payments.

I don't know if I'd buy them if I could, they say "I'm rich" and provoke envy and jealousy, but on the other hand, what you pay is also somebody's salary, so it's not so bad...hard decision.

sorry, but I always found via condotti a bit of a let down - for no other reason that the cobbled stones would not allow me to wear high heals:)
via montenapoleone e della spiga in milan are my idea of couture fashion. last time I happened to be there, they were deserted: everybody was standing in huge lines in front of the newly opened Abercrombie and fitch store.

Though this stuff is gorgeous and luxurious, it is out of everyman's reach. I don't even lust after it, knowing that one item could provide meals for starving families.
I hope you stay sane under these conditions.

I could actually take a trip to Rome for what some of those clothes cost!

I'm with you, I can't justify spending that kind of cash on clothing. I don't think I would even if I had it to spend. It just seems so excessive.

I love Bulgari but I can only afford to wear the perfumes! My favourites are the green tea and the white tea scents. Lovely!

Best wishes,
Natasha.

There is the eternal question. Since I cannot afford it (even a little bit) I don't have to struggle on that one.

But those luxe clothes really make my mouth water...

Thanks for visiting my blog yesterday!

I was on the Via Condotti in April. Prada is my favorite. And no, I didn't buy a thing!
